St. Albans Probus Club
For Retired Professional and Business Men

Welcome

The Cathedral and Abbey Church of Saint Alban A warm welcome! The purpose of this website is to introduce you to our Probus Club and to give some idea of who we are and what we do. The Probus Club was founded in January 1984, so we celebrated our Silver anniversary in 2009. Our primary aim is to provide opportunities for retired professional and business men to be in touch with others who are like minded. We meet once a month and organise a number of events and visits to places of interest each year. Our members live locally, most of them in St Albans. They come from a wide range of backgrounds, ranging from science and engineering to sales, education, law and government, as well as many others. Many of their interests include working for the community and supporting local activities.

We are a member of the national group of Probus Clubs and a copy of the quarterly magazine is provided for our members. We have an active Ladies’ Section which allows the wives and partners of members to enjoy their own separate meetings, as well as joining their men folk on visits and special events. Detailed information about our meetings, after lunch speakers and programme of visits are circulated to our members in a six monthly Newsletter. An edited version of the latest Newsletter has been used to provide the information for this website.

We welcome new members and if you would like an application form to join us, please phone the Secretary, Gerald Frizelle on 01727 830681 or email gdaf@waitrose.com
